Camera holdup gang

The "24 Oras" newscast tonight aired that there is a camera holdup gang roaming around hunting for their next professional photographer victim.

Maria Ausente, a GMA reporter interviewed a victim, Alias "Ruben" who makes a living as a photographer in an events like wedding. He said the suspects contacted him for the wedding in Antipolo and the gang took him to a remote area where he was held up at gunpoint.

Ruben recalled, "when we are in the remote area, they declare holdup. They have guns pointing me." Fortunately, Ruben not only escaped alive from the gang but also kept his camera.

The police authorities said the reason why photographer was targeted by the suspects is because stolen cameras are easily be sold to unwary buyers. And so, buyers are reminded to be wary buying second hand cameras to avoid the Anti-Fencing law which penalizes in buying stolen items.

Antipolo police Deputy Chief Insp. Rizaldy Aquino advised professional photographers to make an extra careful in accepting jobs from potential clients.
